Personal

For those of you who don't know me my name is Josh Myers. I currrenly live in Rochester Hills, MI with my fiance Roxanne. I grew up on the west side in Wixom, attending high school at Walled Lake Western. My personal interests, besides spending time with my fiance, are travelling and sports (mainly basketball). I play in a weekly basketball league at Lifetime Fitness, in Troy. As for travelling, my favorites are anywwhere in Arizona and Cologne, Germany. I have spent much of my life visiting and even in working in different states and countries, so I have a broad perspective on life. My philopsophy on life is to always go the extra mile for my family, friends, and clients. If I have the time to take on your project, I will always make sure I do it to the best of my ability.

Education

I did my undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering at GMI Engineering and Management Insutiture (Now Kettering University). My specialty was manufacturing product design, which is basically how to build things with different materials and using different processes. I began my Masters in Product Development at the University of Detroit-Mercy. I never finished the degree but gained a lot more experience in engineering and business throughout my studies during the program. I studied for and attained my Contracting license in 2006, and my Real Estate license in 2008. I am also educated, either through classes or self training, in CAD modeling, Web Design, and Scripting. As you can see I also have a broad spectrum of education and find myself a quick learner, especially in the areas of building and technology.

Experience

My primary career path is Engineering, which I have been doing since my start at GMI back in 1997. I have worked for Ford Motor Company in the Body CAD department for almost ten years now. I have a variety of experience in sheet metal design and optimization, but am currently acting as a design process specialist for interior and exterior plastic trim components. I learned at a young age to enjoy contracting and real estate activities. My grandfather and father were both real estate investors and had rental properties, both homes and buildings. Part of my informal education was to spend time with them on the weekends helping out with some basic remodeling of homes. I bought my first home near the end of 2004 and did a complete remodel of the place (a true foreclosure). Near the end of 2005 I bought my first investment property, a rental home for students at Kettering Univeristy. In 2006, I decided to build a home for myself. I took on the act of both general contractor for the project and contractor for most of the finishing tasks. I have picked up many contracting jobs along the way and have a fair of amount of experience in the area of remodeling and new construction. I find that designing and building cars is very similar to designing and building homes, so the two paths have overlapped to bring more experience to the other. I am not a veteran in real estate just yet as I have only sold or listed a limited number of homes over the past couple of years. I am obviously part time and mostly work for family or friends who are looking to buy or sell their places. One thing I can say is that I will always do my best to protect my clients best interests, which is more than I can say for many of the realtors I have had to deal with in recent years.
